Vellum Scrapbooking Tips and Tricks

Adhere Vellum

  • Use brads or eyelets to adhere vellum to your project.
  • Use ribbon or fiber to tie your accent to your page.
  • Use embellishments or other page elements to hide traditional adhesive.

Machine stitching and hand stitching add pizzazz to vellum accents and offer a wide range of possibilities depending on the type of stitch you use. You can even sew punches or other embellishments under the vellum to create a unique look.

There are several adhesives on the market made specifically for use with vellum.

One time saving tip is to use your hair dryer once your item is printed. This only takes a couple of seconds. This saves time and you can work on you Layouts with nothing holding you up.

An adhesive for vellum that doesn't show - even through dark backgrounds, This wonderful adhesive is Glue Dots for Vellum, also called Vellum Glue Dots (made by Glue Dots). It's a little pricey, but well worth the money if you don't want your adhesive to show.

Print out your sample piece on your printer and tear or cut your vellum to fit the piece.

Temporarily affix your specialty paper over the printed piece and run back through your printer.

Buy tracing paper instead of vellum to help save money

Use Spray adhesive. If you think it's going to be messy, it's not. Just lay a piece of newspaper on the floor or do it in your garbage can.

Do you have a certain picture that you absolutely love but wish it wasn't so blurry? USE VELLUM. put vellum on top of the picture, and poked brads on all four corners. The vellum covered up my picture-taking-error, and the brads made it look even prettier.

Some TIPS for BETTER PRINTING ON VELLUM, TRANSPARENCIES & MORE Use vellum made specifically for inkjet printers or office supply vellum which often prints fairly well. Use the "right side" of the vellum. If you can find a less shiny side, use it. Don't use big, wide fonts as thinner lines won't show the resisting as much. Buy pre-printed vellum, transparency film, ribbon and twill tape.
