Tips and Tricks
Adhere Vellum
- Use brads or
eyelets to adhere vellum to your project.
- Use ribbon or
fiber to tie your accent to your page.
- Use embellishments
or other page elements to hide traditional
adhesive.
Machine stitching and
hand stitching add pizzazz to vellum accents and
offer a wide range of possibilities depending on the
type of stitch you use. You can even sew punches or
other embellishments under the vellum to create a
unique look.
There are several
adhesives on the market made specifically for use
with vellum.
One time saving tip is
to use your hair dryer once your item is printed.
This only takes a couple of seconds. This saves time
and you can work on you Layouts with nothing holding
you up.
An adhesive for vellum
that doesn't show - even through dark backgrounds,
This wonderful adhesive is Glue Dots for Vellum,
also called Vellum Glue Dots (made by Glue Dots).
It's a little pricey, but well worth the money if
you don't want your adhesive to show.
Print out your sample
piece on your printer and tear or cut your vellum to
fit the piece.
Temporarily affix your
specialty paper over the printed piece and run back
through your printer.
Buy tracing paper
instead of vellum to help save money
Use Spray adhesive. If
you think it's going to be messy, it's not. Just lay
a piece of newspaper on the floor or do it in your
garbage can.
Do you have a certain
picture that you absolutely love but wish it wasn't
so blurry? USE VELLUM. put vellum on top of the
picture, and poked brads on all four corners. The
vellum covered up my picture-taking-error, and the
brads made it look even prettier.
Some TIPS for BETTER
PRINTING ON VELLUM, TRANSPARENCIES & MORE Use vellum
made specifically for inkjet printers or office
supply vellum which often prints fairly well. Use
the "right side" of the vellum. If you can find a
less shiny side, use it. Don't use big, wide fonts
as thinner lines won't show the resisting as much.
Buy pre-printed vellum, transparency film, ribbon
and twill tape. |
