Tips and Tricks
Many times when I'm heat
embossing I find that static electricity on my paper makes
some of the embossing powder stick in places I don't want it
to. If you run a dryer sheet over your project before you
use your embossing ink and powder it really cuts down on the
static. You can also use a small artist brush to flick away
any unwanted powder spots.
Use a piece of cardboard covered
with a couple of layers of aluminum foil to help speed up
the melting process when using embossing powders. This
technique reflects the heat up and speed up the melting
process and also aids in a more even melting. You can easily
take off the aluminum foil and replace it with a fresh piece
if needed easily and quickly, just wrap it around the piece
of cardboard and tape on the bottom. Try this and you will
find yourself quickly and more evenly melting on your
projects.
Most embossing powders come in
clear plastic containers. Store your embossing powders
upside down in a drawer. That way when you open the drawer
you can immediately see which color you need.
Easy clean up for embossing
powder do embossing work on a opened file folder, when done
just lift up the sides of the file folder and easily put the
unused embossing powder back in the jar!
If you have an embossing system
like a Scrap Boss or Card Boss - or even brass stencils and
a light box - use a piece of removable tape to keep your
paper in place. After embossing, flip the whole setup over
and then you can chalk the impression cleanly. Don't
forget... Chalk is very forgiving. I keep a "Magic Rub"
white eraser close by. Cleans up stray marks and chalk
smudges easily
